3 Below Tales of Arcadia Review

Ever since I watched Trollhunters, I was waiting for this TV series. Before Trollhunters I loved Dreamwork's  Race to the Edge series featuring Hiccup and his gang. I never thought I would ever find a series like Race to the edge. And was indeed very sad when it ended. But then Dreamworks another masterpiece Trollhunters proved me wrong. It was even better than the RTTE.

Also, there were many similarities. Hiccup and Jim, Astrid and Claire, Fishlegs and Tobby likewise. But Trollhunters were students and they had two different lives. Which made a story much more interesting. In the final season, two students were introduced who were different from other ones. Aja and Krel. They were aliens. 3 below is a story about these royal kids who escaped from their planet with their bodyguard Varvatos Vex. And of course Luug their loyal pet.

Their Russian like accent is so sweet. Especially Aja. She adores the beauty of the earth. While Krel mostly prefers doing his business unless it's needed to interfere in other's lives. Nevertheless, both are geniuses. Krel outsmarts everyone in the school. Well, at the time Jim, Claire, and Toby were spending most of their time in troll world. But in episode 6 of the season both the teams solve a problem together. That to me is the best episode of the season. The story is well written. They gave importance to almost every character in the school they included in the Trollhunters.

Just like in the Trollhunters season the villains (bounty hunters)were very interesting in 3 below. They were sent by General Morando who took over the planet from the royal family. But the story never went in the dark mode, not yet. 3 below consistently delivers funny dialogues, especially Varvatos vex disguised as an old man yet speaking like a commander playing chess in his free time with Toby's granny and speaking in a grand proclamation of "glorious death". Although sometimes hearing him for too long gets irritating.

Overall it's a really nice show people always hunt for filled with humour, fun, sci-fi action comedy family entertainment. A show to watch in a fresh and cheerful Sunday morning.

The part 1 of 3 below was released on 21 December 2018 on Netflix. Part 2 will come out next year. No dates are given yet.
